Aspen Valley Rules of Golf

The Board of Directors has the responsibility for generating and carrying out all rules and policies to govern the play and conduct of members and their guests while at the Aspen Valley Golf Club, which includes the clubhouse, golf course, practice areas and golf club storage. These rules shall be reviewed each year and amended from time to time as is deemed necessary by the Committees or as directed by the Board in order to improve the harmony of the club, play of the course or any condition, situation, or circumstances which might occur during the golfing season pertaining to the operation of the Aspen Valley Golf Club.


General Rules

  • Tee times may be reserved ten (10) days in advance.
  • Tee times will start at 7:00 a.m. unless climactic conditions are such that damage to the course may result if play is allowed.
  • Members may make a tee time in person or by telephone. The member making the tee time is expected to play in the group using the tee time.
  • The Club Professional or one of the Golf Shop staff will assist the member in scheduling a tee time as close as possible to the time when the member desires to play depending upon the daily schedule of available tee times.
  • Tuesday and Thursday mornings are reserved for Ladies Day activities. Open play will commence as soon after as is practical and will not interfere with Ladies Day activities.
  • Wednesday afternoon is reserved for Men’s Day activities. Open play will be allowed until such time that it will not interfere with Men’s day activities.
  • The Golf Professional and his staff will be responsible for starting play on the golf course. All players will register in the Golf Shop prior to play. No one will start on the 10th tee without permission of the Golf Shop. Starting on the 10th tee does not guarantee the right to immediately be on the 1st tee when making the turn.
  • To ensure a high quality of course playing conditions, all players are expected to repair ball marks, repair or replace divots and rake all sand bunkers.
  • All players are expected to complete the round of golf in four (4) hours.
  • The Club Professionals will have full authority to restrict or prohibit all golf play and the use of golf carts on the course due to inclement weather or golf course maintenance.
  • Golf carts are designed for and shall be ridden by only two (2) people at a time.
  • Only club owned golf carts shall be allowed on the course.
  • Each golfer playing will have a set of clubs.
  • Groups stopping at the turn for any extended break for lunch, refreshments, or unusual delays between nines will forfeit tee priority and must check with the Golf Professionals before resuming play.
  • In case of a rain out, the member and/or guest will be issued a rain check to be reimbursed the next time he/she plays golf. It is the member’s responsibility to report how many holes they completed to the starter in the golf shop.
  • It is the policy of Aspen Valley Golf Club that normal and desired order of play shall be in groups of four players. Groups consisting of fewer than four players may be assigned tee times, but such groups have no status or right to advance through foursomes, and shall be advised by the Golf Shop staff. Requests for tee times by groups greater than four players are outside the desired norm, and shall be granted only in the rarest of circumstances and then only after 1:00 PM. It is the sole prerogative of the Golf Shop staff to grant such requests. Members are requested to plan their games with no more than four players.


Seasons Defined

  • Pre & Post Season – (Pre) April 1st through May 14th & (Post) September 16th through October 31st.
  • Regular Golf Season – May 15th through September 15th.
  • Open play is unassigned time designated for play after Ladies Day activities, prior to Men’s Day activities, before or after Tournaments or other Club sponsored functions.


Men’s Dress Code

  • Shoes designated as golf shoes or appropriate athletic footwear, which will not cause damage to the greens, are to be worn on the course. Soft Spikes or non-metal golf spikes are mandatory.
  • Players will wear clothing that has been designed for casual recreational golf activities. Walking shorts, slacks, jeans, knickers, and clothing specifically designed for wear on the golf course is required.
  • Clothing which is designed for sports activities other than golf are not to be worn while playing golf at Aspen Valley Golf Club. Examples of such sports attire would be swimsuits, track shorts, sweat pants, baseball uniforms, etc.
  • Jeans are acceptable but well-worn jeans, torn shorts or other well-worn pants are not appropriate. The Golf Shop personnel will deny tee times and golfing privileges until appropriate attire is worn.
  • Golf style shirts are appropriate and should be worn at all times while playing golf.
  • Fashions change and the golfer will be expected to dress in a manner which will maintain an appearance that is not offensive or which would cause embarrassment to other members and their guests.


Women’s Dress Code

  • Shoes designed specifically as golf shoes or appropriate athletic footwear that will not damage the course. Soft Spikes or non-metal spikes are mandatory.
  • Proper golf attire shall be worn at all times.
  • Clothing designed for casual recreational golfing activities such as women’s slacks, shorts no shorter than mid-thigh length, shorts or skirts are the required attire.
  • Tennis attire, tank tops, halters, short shorts, cut-offs, running shorts and swimwear are not permitted on the golf course.
  • The Golf Shop staff may deny tee times and golf privileges to any member or their guest who violate the dress code. Members are responsible for informing their guest about the Aspen Valley Golf Club dress code.
  • Fashions change and the golfer will be expected to dress in a manner which will maintain an appearance that is not offensive or which would cause embarrassment to other members and their guests.
